The process always generates silver oxide particles which give a cloudy appearance to the water. When allowed to stand for 24 – 48 hours the particles sediment to the bottom of the container, leaving clear water which is then easier to filter. Sometimes chlorine, oxygen, or ozone in the water may oxidize some of the silver giving a yellow tinge of silver chloride or oxide which is harmless.
